MAPLE MOUNTAIN HOMESTEAD

Welcome to Maple Mountain Homestead! Follow the misadventures of a New York City guy and New Jersey suburban girl trying to figure out how to homestead on their 12.5 acre property nestled in a mountainside in Vermont.

At Maple Mountain Homestead we strive to grow regeneratively, using permaculture principles to work with nature and focus on small scale, quality products (herbal salves, teas, oxymels and more!). No harsh chemicals are ever used, the only thing we occasionally spray is a compost tea. We painstakingly hand pick bugs off our plants and let nature do its thing. No year is ever the same and with the crazy swings in climate, each year feels like our first. But we have noticed an increase of many different species of birds, dragonflies, frogs and earthworms as our food forest grows and becomes its own ecosystem and a sanctuary for wildlife.

Our main goal is to show like minded individuals who are feeling lost, unfulfilled or at a crossroads that there is another way to live. To take control of your life by taking control of your own food and medicine. And that it doesn't matter if you have no idea what you're doing because every year is a learning experience and Nature is your teacher. All you have to do is pay attention. This lifestyle is hard and exhausting, but it's also rewarding and magical and so beyond worth it. We are the ones we have been waiting for!
